Final Cut Pro Exporting - Why some parts of video export pixelated?
I've worked with FCPx for a number of years with earlier Macs and have not seen this. Just acquired a Mac Studio M1 Max. Using FCP 10.6.5.
The video quality looks fine in playback from time line but when exported random parts/clips are pixilated. I typically export 1080p, H.264.
Any guidance is greatly appreciated.
Mac Studio (2022)
Make sure the timeline is also 1080p/60 to match the source clip. Then export it this way:
File>Share>Export File>Settings:
Format: Computer
Video Codec: H.264 Better Quality
Resolution: 1920 x 1080

It worked! I tried your method again realizing that I missed changing format to "computer>H.264 Better Quality". Video now looks great and consistent. No pixelization!

Before you spend $50 in Compressor, try exporting as ProRes, as Tom also suggested.
That should come out perfectly.
Then control-click the exported file in the Finder, and choose Services->Encode Selected Video Files, and choose H264.
Does that come out ok?
Do you have Compressor? Try using a Compressor preset that matches FCP inside FCP. If that produces the same result try exporting a ProRes version and compress that using Compressor.

I am glad that you got it resolved.
To be clear, and if you read my previous post to the end, I only suggested ProRes as an interim step to get the export correctly of FCP, to be then subsequently converted to H264 in the Finder.
What are the specs of the original media? Is the pixelization always in the same place? Can you post a section that shows what you’re seeing?
Original footage from camera is 1920x1080, 60fps.
This footage is from a dance recital. The pixelization is most obvious with the solo dancers. Camera is zoomed and I'm not cropping in with any clips. This is from exported file.

What is puzzling is that the scene/dance will start off fine, then about 15 -20 seconds in it gets pixelated. Same shot/camera, no cuts, transitions, or adjustments.

No, I don't have Compressor. I've heard of it but never needed to look into it. Can you please tell me what it is and it has worked for you?
