How do you make messages go out from my Mac. They're going out on my iPhone, my not my Mac. I'm using MacOS 12.6.5. It keeps saying "message failure". I did everything it said: restarted, checked that time and date are the same on my iPhone and Mac, etc. This is only recent. It always was fine before this.

I just solved the problem. I started a chat with Apple support and the advisor, Jon, who was wonderful, checked a few things and I had to enable the Apple ID on my phone to activate iMessages. Then my phone number appeared as a choice on my Mac to send new messages from. Thank you everyone who replied to this thread.

Are you signed in with your apple id?

Troubleshooting Messages Not Going Through:
Contact your Carrier, as they are the one who provide you with the service of Messaging. Report back what they say.

Messages are to going through. So, call them for feedback on the messages.
Is Messages Set Up on the Mac?:
Set up messages, and be certainty messaging is enabled on your iPhone. You'd tether through your phone's Cellular services for this.

Restart the Mac:
Next, restart the Mac, having just set this up.

In messages preferences under iMessage, my phone number is not listed under "you can be reached for messages at" so it's not available to choose to start new conversations from. How do I get my phone number as a choice please? Thank you!
