Transferring CD music from Mac to USB

So, I've read all the comments on transferring my CD's from iTunes to a 2.0USB stick to play in the caravan on a 2021 JVC radio. I've selected songs in my library and converted them to mp3 on my Mac, then dragged to a USB. But when I try and play in the radio I get " not supported" error message for each track. I can't recall having this issue in the past.

Computer is a 2016 MacBook OS Monterey 12.6.5. Each song looks like "song name.mp3" What I'm I doing wrong, its driving me nuts !

Hi, Thanks for your response. I think I've solved the issue. I need to import the files as MP3 format initially, it appears converting existing CD's to create a duplicate MP3 from the initial Apple format doesn't work. All my loaded CD's in I-Tunes appear to be Apple format now, I'm sure previously they were MP3 format. Maybe Apple upgraded the sound quality as some stage ?

Ive just loaded a CD after changing the import settings to MP3 encode and it works on the JVC.

It sounds like you're having trouble playing MP3 files on your JVC car stereo. We can help.

Your best bet would be to determine if the issue is with the MP3 files, or with the stereo trying to play them. If you try playing the MP3s using a different device, do they behave normally? Well, it would appear that the original and MP3 versions are somehow being copied to the USB. I would try renaming the MP3 versions (maybe add a 1 to each filename) and then make sure to only copy those versions to the USB stick. If that works, then troubleshoot from there.

Well, I thought I'd solved it but no. Here's what's happening. On the USB stick I can see 16 tracks of MP3 music, but when I insert to the car radio ( now tried this on two older cars that don't have Apple Car Play) there appears to be 32 tracks, the first 16 tracks just say " Not Supported", then the next 16 tracks play ok !!!!

I've looked at the stick content and MB's and they match 16 tracks. I've emptied the rubbish bin and nothing extra on the stick. Its got me stumped for sure.

Hi Salave,

For help with converting songs in your iTunes library, check out the steps below found in the article here: Convert a song to a different file format with the Apple Music app or iTunes for Windows - Apple Support

"On your PC

Open iTunes for Windows.
In the menu bar, choose Edit > Preferences.
Click the General tab, then click Import Settings.
Click the menu next to Import Using, then choose the encoding format that you want to convert the song to.
Click OK.
Select the songs in your library that you want to convert.
Choose File > Convert, then Create [format] Version.

New song files appear in your library next to the original files."
