Accepting custom email domain invite

If an iCloud+ user invites me to use an email address on his iCloud+ powered custom email domain,

Do I myself need iCloud+ in order to accept and use the invite/email address ?

Custom domain separate email inbox?!?! I don’t understand why your custom domain email is all delivered to your existing iCloud inbox. Is there any way of setting up your custom domain that’s purchased through cloud fare to deliver your email into a separate inbox or at least a separate iCloud email address inbox? Are we allowed to have more than one iCloud email address? The whole purpose of purchasing a custom domain for me was to have all of my work email go to an entirely separate inbox.
