I am currently trying to add my EBT card (Connecticut) to my Apple Pay, however, it is asking me for a three digit security code (like a regular Debit/Credit card would have). I was not given a three digit security code, nir does one appear on my card. I was asked to create a four digit pin to use at register at time of purchase, like you would do with a debut card. Anyone know what I would use for the three digit security code?

I am in Los Angeles using an Iphone 12 Pro and your instructions did not work for adding my California Golden State Advantage EBT card to my wallet. When I press ‘add a credit or debit card’, I am prompted to either allow my phone’s camera to view my card to extract my card number, my name, and my card’s expiration date (EBT has no expiration) or to enter my card’s information manually. Either way, the first fields shown are my name and the card number. Either way, after my name & card number are entered is shows a ‘NEXT’ button. After pressing next, im told that “THIS CARD IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR APPLE PAY” ‘learn about supported cards’” with the “learn about…” being a hyperlink showing an extensive list of financial institutions excluding EBT as far as I can tell. I dont know if different parts of california do or do not allow the California Golden State EBT to be added to the apple wallet, but It apparently does not allow me that option here in the Hollywood region of Los Angeles, California. Is this correct or am I misunderstanding something? Thank you f
Do You know for certain that you state supports Apple Pay? Is there a phone number on the back of the card you can call?
SNAP EBT is administered by each individual state. Apple can’t control what states will support Apple Pay/Apple Wallet. You’re welcome to try adding your card. These are the states that say they officially support SNAP EBT, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, and Vermont.
However, in practice, people I know that have tried it in Florida have had mixed results and many times Apple Pay had merchant issues.
Adding your EBT card to Apple Pay is a bit different depending on the device you are using. Here are the steps you need to follow:
On iPhone and iPad:
By following these steps, you should be able to add your EBT card to Apple Pay.
Anyway, remember that not all states or mobile payment apps support this feature yet. In some cases, your EBT card will show in the list, but it is still possible that it could be rejected when trying to pay for groceries. Also, take in account that, even with Apple Play, you’ll only be able to pay the products accepted by the SNAP program.
There is someway u could get it to fit in the wallet. Maybe like a gift card
I read an article back in May about California adding an app for EBT. Have you downloaded the App yet? You may be able add it to Apple Wallet via the app. Many banks do that. It’s also possible California has bypassed Apple Wallet and expects you to use their app instead of Apple Wallet. I believe it’s called EBT Edge. It could be you have to register the card through the app, then add to Apple Wallet app.
SNAP card is not an option at this time.
The 16 digit number should be the number to add. It should prompt you for your PIN also. When you attempt to add the card do you receive an error notification? If so, what is the exact message?
I think we read the same article. It suggested CA would ditch Apple Pay options in favor of the edge app. I tried edge months ago and it was so terrible it felt like an unfinished sixth graders coding class homework.
Are you entering your name exactly as it’s registered on the California EBT website? You can call their support number for additional assistance. California also introduced a mobile app and may be using their app exclusively instead of Apple Pay. The post you replied to is a year old and a lot can change in a year. 😀
Make my link card quick pay on Apple Pay
Hi, I’m in LA area of CA, also having issues. I also have a Golden State Advantage card, and on the back of mine it also has “California Ebt Card / QUEST” logo. On the front is my 16-digit account number, but also a 15-digit number under my name. My name is shown “last, first”. I think the card was issued 12/2020.
When I attempt to add, as credit or debit, with camera or manually, there are only 2 fields: name and account number. There’s no field for 4-digt PIN. If I hit
next, I get the ineligible message as well.
What is a link card? Is it your EBT card?
No prompts for PIN ever. Same ineligible message as Feral l22 above.
Using a 15PM.
That’s was my impression, a second grader's class project. But I think they are using an app now instead of electronic wallet.
