Hi Jen_card,

Depending on the situation, you may be referring to a 6 digit passcode used to secure your device, or you may be referring to two-factor authentication as a secondary security measure.

If this is a passcode, typically you will be given several attempts and then you may have to wait before trying again, or it may say you have "X attempts remaining" or a similar message. In this case, follow the options from If you forgot your iPhone passcode to erase your device and restore it to factory default settings to remove that passcode.

If your iPhone requires a two-factor authentication code, Get a verification code and sign in with two-factor authentication outlines the options to obtain the necessary code to complete the sign-in process. If trusted devices are not available or an option, that article further offers:

"If you still can't sign in

If you can’t sign in, reset your password, or receive verification codes, you can request account recovery to regain access to your account. Account recovery might take a few days or longer, depending on the specific account information you can provide to verify your identity."

Note that attempting to erase your device if this is the case may result in activation lock becoming enabled, and you will still have to complete the processes for two-factor authentication to regain use of the device.

Regards.
