Apple TV content to TV without Airplay capability

My TV is not Airplay enabled. When my Apple TV is connected via ethernet and to TV via HDMI when I try to play Apple TV content it tries use Airplay. How do I get it to use HDMI connection with iPad mirroring its screen to the TV?

Hello,

You will need either an AirPlay enabled streaming device or an adapter to content your iPad to your TV using HDMI. You can learn about AirPlay enabled streaming devices here: Home app - Accessories - Apple, and you can find HDMI adapters here: Power & Cables - iPad Accessories - Apple.

I would personally recommend an AirPlay enabled streaming device as they add more flexibility to what you can stream to your TV, and you can stream from other Apple devices.

Thanks for reaching out!

It turns out the problem I was having was related to my international location/region. The Apple TV was purchased and set up in Canada. I travelled across the US border to New York state and discovered that content from Canada doesn't travel across the border with the Apple TV. I had to change the region from Canada to USA in the Apple TV settings in order to receive content while in the US. That worked.
