The “not verified” message is generally a good indicator that the devices are knock-offs or outright counterfeits.


Very few “genuine” AirPods are ever re-sold; while quite a few are lost, mis-appropriated, or outright stolen.


However, a tsunami of counterfeits are out there.


Bottom Line: If you didn’t buy them from Apple (or an authorized reseller) AND break the tamper-evident packaging seals yourself; there is a high probability that they are NOT genuine.
