How I can get this HP Smart tank 7000 printer to print (in colour) on my MacBook Pro?

I have purchased an HP Samrt tank 7000 printer. HP tell me there are no drivers available for apple computers. Does anyone know how I can get this printer to print in colour from my Macbook?

This HP printer supports AirPrint, which means macOS, iOS, and iPadOS can and will use the printer drivers embedded directly within the printer. Nothing additional or added is needed. Printers with AirPrint are what you want to buy, as these printers don’t need added drivers.

Here is how to configure an AirPrint printer on macOS:

There’s a firmware update from last year for this HP printer. Make sure that’s installed:

HP would prefer you to load the HP Smart app (that’s the HP driver package), though that’s not necessary here as this printer supports AirPrint. HP Smart also includes lots of background activity doing who-knows-what, based on various system reports that get posted around here.

Here’s the full HP manual for that HP Smart Tank printer, including a brief reference to AirPrint, for reference:

Amusingly here, HP co-invented AirPrint with Apple, but it seems HP Support is unaware of that and of related details.

Local preference is Brother. The last HP printer was wheeled out of here a few years back.

From the HP site:

NOTE:

  • Disconnect from Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection before downloading.
  • If you are asked to sign in to a Microsoft Store account, you can either sign in, create one or close the sign in screen and continue to install HP Smart.
  • HP Smart is compatible with Windows 11 and Windows 10 version 1809 or higher. HP values that updated operating systems offer our users increased security and privacy protection.

I think you'll need Windows to use this printer. That's what HP certainly seems to be saying.
