iMessages to myself are sent and recieved

When I send myself an iMessage I also receive the message from myself. This is a problem I started having about a month ago. I thought it was because I turned text message forwarding on, but I shut that off and I’m still receiving the messages that I send to myself. I just want to send links, reminders, information, etc. into the void to reference later, and not have them echo back to me.

Any help on how to get this to stop would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The way you describe this working for you above is how it always worked for me. For years until 2021. I was annoyed when suddenly it stopped, and only sent the imessages and sms out, but they never were received back. suddenly, now this month, they both are doing both again, for sms and imessage.

i do not recall making any settings changes that might have affected this. so maybe its the effects of nsa spyware.

but still would like a final absolute explanation.

i am on the latest ios. and my iphone today is newer than it was in 2020/2021 when it stopped.

UPDATED...sorry.... The way you describe this working for you above is how it always worked for me. For years until 2021. i do not recall making any settings changes (other than turning OFF most all of the; Apps using iCloud) -now only Books does. But since Messages was not one of these, i do not see how that might have affected this. so maybe its just the effects of the nsa spyware...?

which may also explain why im seeing "read <time>"* on these messages now too. BUT I do NOT have THAT turned on in my: Settings > Messages > Send Read Receipts. It is off/gray/left. This is NEW! Since back in 2021 *this was not happening when sending myself messages.

**maybe i had myself blocked? and somehow unblocked myself? btw, having myself set to Hide Alerts has no effect on the send/rcv.
