Can i have two apple id’s

I have an Apple ID for development and a personal Apple ID and it is no problem. I don't need to switch Users when developing. I use the developer Apple ID to log into App Store Connect to submit my apps. When done with that you just have to log out, then I can go to a site like this one and log in with my personal Apple ID. My developer ID is just bare bones, I don't use any services like iMessage, Apple TV, Apple Music, iCloud with the developer ID, but I do use all of those with my personal ID and my computer is set up with my personal ID. Xcode has my Developer ID in the Accounts setting.

The only time I have an issue is when I forget to log out of the Developer site and then come here, it will have me logged in with the developer ID and I just have to log out and log back in with my personal ID.

Submitting to the store requires a specific sequence, with specific commands, and is not something that happens accidentally.

Which leaves two general paths: adding to the apparent existing local complexity here with another Apple ID, or resolving whatever local complexity exists in the existing development automation that (and here inferring much) automatically submits stuff to the app store. Or has the potential to do so.

I’d usually select the latter path, working on the locally-created automation procedures, as that then allows me to generate side-builds which can be tested without involving the app store. And without switching Apple IDs, with all that entails.

Can you add an Apple ID? Sure. Create a new login on your Mac, and switch to and use that. Fast User Switching helps here, too. But you’re now having to manage multiple Apple IDs, and managing the apps and subscriptions iCloud and the rest associated with each, and that probably also means Family Sharing, too.

Why do you want to have two Apple ID’s?

Your Apple ID is the personal account you use with all Apple products and services. It includes the email address and password you use to sign in, as well as the contact, payment, and security details that you use with Apple.

You can’t merge multiple Apple ID accounts.

In Xcode > Settings > Accounts, what Apple ID do you have there? I have my developer Apple ID there.

The Apple ID I have in  > Settings is my personal Apple ID.

I also pay for my yearly developer membership when signed into my developer Apple ID.

I have had my developer Apple ID for 10+ years, so it is possible that a lot has changed since then. I think at that time it was recommended to use a separate Apple ID for development and I have always used that Apple ID to purchase the yearly membership. It is not linked to any of my others devices and is just used in Xcode and for logging into the Developer site.

As MrHoffman said, you will not have to worry about accidentally publishing an App to the store as there are many more steps involved.

What Mac Jim ID suggested is an aspirational configuration for this, and not what already exists here with your existing install and existing setup.

Certificates are only available via an Apple ID that is part of the paid developer program.

What you can do on the free tier is more limited.

And again, spontaneously uploading a build for review doesn’t happen by by default. Not without locally-created scripts to do that, or similar.
