Charging Female Lighting to Male USB-C cable adapter
Any idea if Apple will be releasing something like this?
Should be cheaper than buying all new USBC cables over the coming years.

Contributors here are all end-users, just like you. Other than publicly released information, nobody here has any insight into Apple’s future product or development roadmaps.
While the Terms of Use that govern participation within the Apple Support Community precludes any speculation as to Apple’s future products, perhaps consider the following…
Lightning and USB-C interfaces are entirely different. USB-C is a much more flexible industry standard than Apple’s proprietary Lightning interface. Apple was one of the major manufacturers involved in the development and standardisation of USB-C.
USB-C has much higher data bandwidth capabilities, charges faster (due to higher Power Delivery) and carries more services than Lightning. In addition, in many countries/regions, USB-C is now the mandated standard for charging portable electronic devices. As such, Lightning is being steadily phased-out.

I've found that passive adapters often create more problems than they're worth - especially if they add length. For instance, I have some 4 inch Lightning to USB-A cables and they just don't work with a typical USB-A extension.
At this point everything is increasingly shifting to USB-C, although it can get really confusing. But for what you're proposing, USB-A to USB-C cables work quite well. I don't know what native voltages that Lightning supports (other than the obvious 5V for USB-A) but it would be really interesting trying to get that work. Right now the only Lightning cables that Apple packages with devices are USB-C to Lightning. But if you're talking about using that with this proposed adapter cable, that would be USB-C to Lightning and then Lightning to USB-C. Not sure how that all works out with the USB Power Delivery negotiation other than it doesn't sound like it would be reliable and would likely need to default to 5V.
