Keynote / A niggling problem that’s making me crazy!

I need my slides to automatically advance every 20 seconds. I know how to do that.

  • HOWEVER, I also need to have objects build in and out of various slides at set intervals. For example, I might want an object to appear on a slide 10 seconds into the slide. I know how to set that up.
  • THE PROBLEM is that, with that example, the slide will then transition after 30 seconds, rather than after 20 seconds.
  • PLEASE HELP: how can I build objects in and out without it affecting the automatic slide advance that I must maintain at 20 seconds?

Thanks!

This anomaly is caused by the way Keynote is programed to use a transition after a build.

The workaround is to deduct the duration of the build effect from the duration of the transition effect:

In your example the transition is 20 seconds and the build is 10 seconds

therfore 20 - 10 = 10

so 10 is the replacement transition duration:

The duration of each will be:

Build duration 10 seconds

Transition effect 10 seconds

The sequence will now last for 20 seconds
