Share audio - Airpods and "Made for Iphone" hearing devices

I've got a bone conducting hearing implant for one ear. It's "made for iphone" by cochlear, and will stream natively without hassle. It wont, however, stream simultaneously to the implant for one ear, and to any other headphone / earbud.

Sharing audio feels like it should be made for this kind of application, but it seems like it's locked down to be only for airpods and beats. Is there any intention to extend which hearing devices can do sharing audio, as it's a massive disappointment that I'm still stuck streaming in mono?
