How to get a used ipad out of supervised and managed mode and have the MDM restrictions removed

My step dad gave me a used iPad that he got from a friend and it has a MDM restrictions for almost everything on the iPad. It also says this IPad is supervised and managed by and gives the company name. I can’t do anything with it until I can get all this removed first. The person who owned it is 99 years old and his son is the one who gave it to my step dad and he gave it to me. I told him the problem and he said the man son said he would contact the company to see what they can do to help. But I haven’t heard back. So my question is Should I contact the company myself or continue to just wait to hear back from the owner of the iPad? I’m worried if I contact the company they may thank I stole it and not help me but it’s a new iPad and I really hate to see it be trashed cause of a restriction on it that could easily be removed. What is the best way to go about this I guess is my main question?

iPad, iPadOS 16

The presence of a management profile indicates that the device is centrally managed by an Enterprise or Educational establishment. Devices that are configuration locked by an MDM platform can usually only be released from central management by the platform that manages the device. Be aware that Apple will not assist with removal of management profiles.

Unless you are lucky - and have the option to delete the profile from iPad Settings - you’ll need to seek assistance directly from the System Administrator who manages the device.
