Touch ID with Magic Keyboard stop working after sleep

I have my Macbook Pro M1 Pro with 13.3.1 (a) update installed and being connected to external monitor (lid is closed) together with wirelessly connected Magic Keyboard 2.

The touch id stop working after sleep time (around 10-30 mins). So I need to do the steps described in the best answer of Touch ID with Magic Keyboard not working … - Apple Community. But anyway the issue appears again and again.

What I can:

  • I can experience the issue after 13.3.1 (a) update being installed
  • I can lock screen by pressing on Touch ID button on my external keyboard
  • I can see "Touch ID or Enter password" under password field
  • I can see my Macbook goes to sleep on lock screen while pressing/touching Touch ID button in order to unlock the screen

What I've tried so far:

  • Articles "Use Touch ID on Mac" and "If Touch ID isn't working on your Mac" did not help
  • Recconecting via Bluetooth did not help
  • Restarting Macbook in safe mode fixes the issue, but again - until next 10-30 mins of sleep time

What I need:

  • My Magic Keyboard to deserve "Magic" word in its name

Specs:

  • Macbook model: MK183LL/A
  • Magic Keyboard model: A2449
  • Bluetooth chipset: BCM_4387
  • macOS 13.3.1 (a) (22E772610a)

MacBook Pro (2021)

This issue affects 100% of all keyboards of that model to my knowledge. I believe they issue a replacement for it but you have to contact Apple.

I have opened a case with them and issued a ticket for the development teams. currently the Keyboard does not have a dedicated team but I hope this will either make a case for a recall so that swap is easy and free. or they issue a firmware update with the fix to the impacted model.
