Voice Over Enhancement (1) doesn't exist anymore (Version 10.6.6)

It took me a bit to figure out what was going on. The older version on my other projects where the old version was still applied and gave me all the same controls. I noticed that in version 1 of the effect on my older projects, the DB was set to way negative, like -31db, but after cranking it back up, it worked. Version 2 doesn't have any of those finer controls, from what I have noticed. So I'm messing around with the version 2 edition now, which seems to have yet to have any of the controls Id had with the original version. Honestly, I am having difficulty hearing any difference with whether it is applied or not.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say this has got to be a bug.

I have found a fix for it.

If you still have projects with the original Voice Over Enhancement effect, go there, click on the audio track that has the original effect, then click "Save Effects Preset" and you can use the saved preset on other projects. 😎

Seems to work fine this way for me.

We used the original voice over enhancement quite a lot, together with Audition, it made voice overs sound deep and rich. Voice over enhancement 2 seems to make no difference apart from reducing the sound and quality of the voice over somehow. It seems to be a bug, which I've reported to Apple.

I had the same problem. My workflow is completely built on the original "Voice Over Enhancement" and I couldn't live without it, so I spent half a day trying to find it. And I did!

To use the original Voice Over Enhancement you have to go to the top tab "Edit" => Add Voice Over Enhancement.

From what I can tell it behaves normally with the exception of the volume being slammed all the way into -dB.

Just adding my "me too" too. This is TERRIBLE what they've done. I have a project (not the FCP sense of the word) that's nearly 90 hours and hundreds of videos that I occasionally have to go back to to make small corrections and repost online and now when I go back to it, the audio is completely gone. Yes, I know I can sort of bring the audio back up but it's super annoying, especially if I ever need to re-export the whole thing again - all hundreds of videos. And today I've now discovered that even for new videos the voice over plugin (the 1st version) is gone and 2nd version is overly simplified but also for me it sounds horrendous. It's muffled. I do not want to have to try to reproduce the original plugin's sound from its constituent parts but I guess I have no choice. Can't believe they've broken things so badly. I hope they're monitoring this.

I've found a solution (at least until they fix the bug):

1. In the Channel EQ Subparameter, click each frequency band individually to disable it.
2. In the processing drop-down menu, select "Side Only".

Since most dialogue/VO sources are mono, you should be in the clear without noticeable changes.

“They” aren’t. You should used feedback to report the problem.

Oh exactly. I completely forgot that I set this effect as default. It works exactly the same as before. And now I started to fear that one day it will disappear haha

But from all this we can conclude that the effect does exist and it can be found somewhere in the root folders of Final Cut
