Dropbox has released a new version for Mac OSX. It appears to have nothing but disadvantages. I use it largely for ease of collaboration with Windows users (colleagues). How well does collaboration with Windows users go using iCloud drive instead?

iCloud works well for collaboration/synchronization of files across all devices accessing the account.
Yeah, looking at OneDrive. iCloud provides only 5 GB for free. I share > 1 TB with my collaborators. It is unreasonable to ask them to spend for a cloud service just to share with me. They're all Windows users. They're on a university budget.

If iCloud will not work for you then use OneDrive, GoogleDrive, or one of the other available file sharing/colaboration cloud services.
