enter passcode for other iPhone and other other perpetual sign in problems

purchased a new 13 two weeks ago, supposedly rebuilt, I had a loaner for a while

I keep getting a message to sign in again "some account services will not be available until you sign in again"

> continue > (after several minutes)

asks "enter passcode for other iPhone"

I called apple and made certain I removed the the previous incarnation of my phone so only the current device is shown, I had thought this was a problem with the loaner phone?

I was continually seeing the instruction to sign in on the earlier carnation of this phone, it would go to "continue" then freeze there, sometimes difficult to close that window and return to settings, I Cloud and find my were gray, there were more serious issues like, it would not play the chosen sound with an alarm and alarms went off at times they were not set for so, I expected this issue of being told to sign in again (and not being able to sign in) with the rebuild...

the message to enter the passcode of "the other phone" is a new variation of "you can't get there from here"

is there something else I should be doing?

If you are the owner or the owner has shared all information with you then to open Activation Lock:- If it is Activation locked, read here --> Turn off Activation Lock - Apple Support Activation Lock for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Learn how to remove a device from a previous owner's account.

If you are not the owner and do not have the Apple ID and Password then there is no way that you can get into this iPhone unless the original owner shares the Apple ID and password with you. If you are lucky you can get into this iPhone if they (owner) accidentally remove the device from their Apple ID.

How to Unlock a Locked iPhone:

If you are locked out, then contact Apple Support. This is a theft deterrent. So, if you do not have the original proof of purchase (i.e. sales receipt or original packing), then you may not be able to get back in. So, set up a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store. There, you'd bring along a proof of purchase (i.e. sale receipt or original packaging) and the iPhone, itself.

Apple Support Contact Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there as necessary
  • Note: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)

link to apple ID page,

Google

The requested URL /translate_c?depth=1&pto=aue&rurl=translate.google.co.in&sl=auto&sp=nmt4&tl=de&u=https://appleid.apple.com/&usg=ALkJrhg_Ss-**23aAUsZxw_SKpeq_BsjAg was not found on this server. That’s all we know

I did find it, shows only the 13 and my current pc

and with the serial number of the new phone, no other phone is shown

as I said, "new" iPhone 13, unless apple lied, I'm the first owner

no issue about it being the wrong password

it works the apple techs sharing the phone have all said, "you are signed in"..

"update apple ID settings", "some account services will not be available until you sign in again" "continue"

I enter pass word and it returns to "Update apple ID settings", or stalls, the grey wheel turning eternally and won't go back to "settings" or, tells me "enter passcode for other iphone"

iCloud is active, it would not be if I were not signed in, right?

one of the many problems with the first 13, icloud and "find my" were grayed... and could not be opened

the issue is a request for the pass word for the "other" phone

is it either the rebuilt 13 or the XR loaner?

two hours on the phone with apple support yesterday, making sure all earlier phones (why is this stuff so difficult to find?) were removed from phone and icloud, I later cleaned up old phones and computers on iTunes...

ended when the 2nd tech had me restart the phone for about the fifth time then called me while the phone was restarting, clever, "if you need more assistance call us"

and, I'm afraid to sign out and test that in case it won't let me sign in again

another Q,

what iphone services can I not use because I can's sign in when I am already signed in?

I can live without them and stop wasting hours on this?

May 24, 2023 10:53 AM in response to TheLittles

I never set up a passcode for my iphones, I don't like wasting time punching in a passcode each time so... there was never a passcode for other iphone

baffled by being asked for the password for my account then the pass code for the other phone

if there were another phone, why does this phone need it?

have been in the apple store twice

I am not "locked out" apple says I am signed in

the apple store, so busy the idea is to just move past the customer quickly

no matter if the problem isn't resolved

the class was great though

May 24, 2023 11:05 AM in response to wednesdaytgw

why does the 13 even need the passcode for another phone?

that doesn't make sense

another factor, if it helps solve the issue, is that "continue" locks up, I can't go back to settings, I can swipe the sign in/continue off the home screen again and again and it won't let me go back to settings, a couple times I have had to shut down the phone to restart it and go back to other settings, this has happened both in the store and while talking on the phone to techs...

I don't imagine it is supposed to do that
