At wits end syncing iPod Touch (7th Gen) with iMac

My iPod has software version 15.7.6 (Model # MVHV2ZP/A). I had it working perfectly OK with my 27" iMac running OS 10.13.6 (High Sierra) for over a year now. The iPod now repeatedly keeps asking me to sign in to my Apple Acct and would not accept 'Not Now' - all I wanted to do was listen to my playlist whilst out walking, but it got to the point where it would not give in and let me access my playlist. In frustration I reset the iPod back to factory default and then started again setting it back up. Page 16 of the iPod Touch User Guide tells me how to sync with my computer using iTunes - I have 3 Macs - the 27" one, a 21.5" one running the latest OS and a iMac Pro laptop also running the latest OS. NOT ONE of these computers recognises the iPod. I cannot synch using the cable and the computers do not even list it on Bluetooth search even though the iPod is sitting next to the computer?????

This is nuts!!!

Can anyone please help?

Thanks in advance

I suggest that you concentrate on one of your computers only, not all three. An iPod can only synchronise with one Library at a time, which means that if you try to sync an iPod with a second Library, you will see a warning that all the media on your iPod will be removed (deleted) and replaced only by what is in the second Library. It makes sense therefore, to use the computer with which your iPod has already been synchronised and you indicate that it's a Mac running OS High Sierra, in which case you will still be using iTunes.

So if your iPod is not seen by iTunes, try this article.

On my 6th generation iPod Touch, the Reset is not a factory reset and I suspect it's the same on the 7th generation model. A full factory reset can only be performed by using iTunes using a cable connection, not Wi-Fi*. There is an option to erase all content and settings, but if you didn't use that option, your media will still be on the iPod.

Once you sort this out, when you next see a message repeatedly asking you to sign in, might I suggest that doing so will be a better idea than repeatedly clicking on Not Now. Perhaps the reason you were asked to sign in is so that iTunes could confirm your account and thereby continue to give you access to Apple Music (if that's what you are using).

* Regarding the wireless connection (Sync); your computer will not see the iPod via Bluetooth because the iPod's Bluetooth is not designed for Sync. Wireless Sync between an iPod and iTunes is by Wi-Fi, not Bluetooth and you would need to have previously set that up (for that specific iPod) in iTunes and with the iPod connected.
