IMAC G4
What can I do with my IMAC G4.
It turns on, it however gets stuck on the start up screen.
I would really like to use it, as it is such a cool design, even if only as a monitor.

Perhaps if you could open it up and renew the PRAM battery (1/2AA 3.6V Lithium)
then put it back together, & quality thermal paste. With details exact; aspects of
this project might be helpful, toward the end-zone finish line. Or dream on?
Original links to reset PRAM for these models have ceased to work; other ones
have totally evaporated into the ether. (Third party hobbyist sites may spell out
the magic incantation rites and rituals to revive these.)

Old links may balk with newer fully secure browser; has images & shows how to open
up the base; and access those tedious parts. I've other links; most older, still work in
Firefox browser. Some do OK, others fail from the server side. 'i Fixit' and other sites
such as 'weebly' http://imacg4.weebly.com/ archive may still offer partial solutions.
Memory chips need to be best of class, high quality in these, to function as well.
Backup clones are helpful; while I've a few from G4 Macs, Tiger and Leopard.
The 'install/restore DVD media' are hard to get; can run significant money now.
There were two last versions of iTunes music player for Tiger and Leopard online
as download from Apple; hadn't looked lately, but I made this user-tip with links.

A few other vintage G3/G4/G5 users still may haunt these discussions.
..I've toyed with multiple dozens, about 600+ Macs, repaired/donated..

Start with this...
Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes or more.
Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.
