Apple watch 1st generation or 7000 series

Can the Apple Watch 7000 series, or 1st generation Apple Watch still be used as a fitness tracker(counting steps, tracking miles, pairing with Nike run)? I don't have the money for a brand new watch yet so I wanted to just use my old one. I do need to get the battery replaced first though. Just wanted to know if it was worth it

Hello,

You can definitely use the Apple Watch (1st generation) to do all of the above and more, but it will not support the latest versions of watchOS. So you will miss out on some features and other improvements.
