When I updated my operating system from Mojave to Big Sur none of my adobe illustrator files would open. It said I had to buy a new adobe suite system. So I deleted Big Sur and reinstalled Mojave. Have they created a patch so you can use your older adobe files without upgrading to use the new operating system?

Later versionS, starting with MacOS 10.15 Catalina require that app Applications support 64-bit processing. Catalina, Big Sur and later remove support for 32-bit Applications all through the Operating System.
The problem you are seeing is that the Application you are trying to use is not modern enough for the MacOS version. Your files worn't open because the old version can not run (it is not 64-bit) and you did not pay to upgrade to a new version that will open them and run just fine.
The 'patch' is to pay for the upgraded version of the Application, or switch to a different Application that can open and convert those files to its format.
