I have been uploading photos to my Mac from a SD card, when it stopped uploading. I have enough space on my computer for many more photos, and I already restarted my computer hoping that would fix this glitch. I need to finish this project and don't know what to do next. Thanks, Dorothyann

I found that I could upload smaller numbers of photos. Apparently, 1100 photos is too big an upload for Phots on Mac can handle at one time! Thanks, anyway! Dorothyann
You need an external drive to move enough things off, at least 30 GB somewhere else. 500 GB for future use.
please explain in a bit more detail how you were uploading the photos to your Mac and what problem you are having.
The number of photos is secondary; the size of the total disk space is the limiting factor. You don't add space for "1,000,000" photos, you add space needed to hold 1,000,000 photos. Something like 50GB or 500GB as suggested.
There may indeed be a limitation on the number that can be moved easily, but still the ultimate governing metric will be disk space used.
