numbers is adding incorrectly (over adding)

Hello

I have a 25 values, they are formatted as numbers not text

when I drag down the column I get sum 983.88

when i put in a formula =sum E33:E140 the result is 10,327.66

I copied the values to a new sheet and when I put in a formula =sum B2:B26 the result is 983.88

I put in the sum formula in a different column on the first sheet and still got too large a result

the sheet was imported from a garmin gps unit

So what is going on in the background that is giving me bizarre results?

this is the group of values they represent miles traveled. I have to filter out CT state miles monthly

Place your state labels in a column(B) adjacent to the column containing the numbers (C).

Use the formula shown below the table.

Note: Rows 9, 10 and 11 are Footer rows. As Footer rows, they permit the use of a single letter to reference 'all cells in this column', omitting the cells in Header rows and Footer rows.

Barry
