Unable to make any digital purchases on iPhone

My debit card works fine with other online transactions and has worked with Apple Pay transactions until seemingly today. I’ve tried buying apps and in-app purchases to no avail. I have more than enough money on my card and I even bought and redeemed a gift card for the Apple store. When I try to use it or my card it just tells me it was unable to verify my payment methods. When it asks me to change it the enter button just loads, same with using the gift card credits. Does anyone know what might be happening? Thank you so much for any help.

That’s what I refer to as the >nuclear option< and you obviously understand why. If you have another device, such as iPad etc, you can try purchasing on another device. Not something I recommend, but sometimes the public beta version of the next iOS resolves issues that are >bugs< in the software. Just understand that beta software can cause other issues and could be more trouble than you want to deal with.


You can also contact Apple Support (1-800-MY-APPLE) but it could possibly end with the same recommended solution of resetting your iPhone. Sorry.

I’ve tried force restarting my phone, I also went through the process of logging out and back into iCloud account, and I tried removing and re-adding the payment method and tried using the Apple gift card as a new payment method. Last thing I can think to do would be trying a different card and fully resetting my device wouldn’t be worth the losses.

This really sounds like an Apple Subscription payment issue. Please review this support article on Apple Subscription payment methods, changing payment methods etc.


If you need to change or update your Apple ID payment method - Apple Support


You may need to remove your payment and them add your payment method again. An issue will arise if you only have one payment method. You may need to add a new method before the old method can be deleted and then added again, to fix the issue.


Other possibilities you can try are just a forced restart.

Logging out of your Apple ID/iCloud account may also resolve your issue.
