Apple will never prompt you to change your password. However, if your phone is under Mobile Device Management (MDM) or you have a company MS Exchange email account on your iPhone the IT department can require that your passcode be changed periodically.

Go to Settings/General/VPN & Device Management to see if there is a Profile. But if you have a company or school email account there will be one.
