Applecare says battery change with no cost and I need to pay

Hi all,


So we have a Iphone Xs with applecare until 2024 and need battery replacement my applecare says battery change without cost . Made appointment in Apple store and after 15 min the Apple representative says you need to pay 99€ , denied ofcourse. I am in full support with my Applecare and using my Iphone XS already for year.

The XS is a very old model, but I suppose it might be possible that you still have active AppleCare or AppleCare+.


However, AppleCare is not a battery replacement plan. It only covers malfunctions/defects that are not the result of accidents or misuse, while AppleCare+ also covers accidental damage with certain deductibles. Apple considers a battery “defect” to be when the battery health is below 80% while it has accumulated less than 500 cycles. If your battery has accumulated more than 500 cycles, Apple will not consider that to be a covered defect under AppleCare. That’s normal wear.
