Transfer of POP account mails to new iphone

Hello, today I did quick transfer from iphone 11 Pro max iphone 14 Pro Max.

Everything transferred smoothly but my POP mail data did not transfer.

I then restored my iphone 14 from the up- to-date back from my external hard disc .

This also did not transfer my POP mail data.

Can anyone help ?

and/or tell me how to avoid this situation in the future when i upgrade my phone next time?

Thanx

A POP email account stores emails on the email provider's servers. The first email client that accesses that server will have all of those emails downloaded to that device. If you try accessing that same account with another device, those messages will be "gone."

On the other hand, an IMAP account, although also stores the messages on the server, they can be accessed by multiple clients. The only time a client will not see a message is if it was deleted by another client.

... so, to avoid this in the future, switch your POP email account to an IMAP one. If your provider does not support IMAP (definitely would be rare today), then I suggest you switch to another provider.

Thank you for your reply.

I understand both POP and IMAP settings.

Actually all my POP mails get downloaded on my MAC …. These are the ones which get download as copies before the mac.

As i could see these mails and revert and forward them etc …. I thought that by the virtue of being on my phone, they too get backed up on the icloud drive / hard disc … but it seems it doesn’t coz even the quick start didn’t transfer those… 😔

any solutions pls ?

Thank you,

I have set up my POP account as per the instructions only… that is how the mails were getting downloaded on my phone…. But it seems they that they were not being saved on the icloud drive….

as they were now part of the memory of my handset. They should get backed up…. Apple developers pls take note and provide a solution for future.
