does local archival storage disk need to be powered when not being accessed?

Does a hard disk drive for local archival storage need to be powered when not being accessed? Can it be left idle and unpowered indefinitely. Does it need refreshing in some sense?

iMac 21.5″, macOS 10.15

A - Then No it does not need to the powered under those specific conditions


A - It will need to be Powered of you intend to use it

A -Yes


Q - Does it need refreshing in some sense?


A - If you have created changes to Your Data on the Internal Drive and what to save to changed Data to the Archive Drive - Yes it will need to be Refreshed
