No printers listed on Add Printer

My HP Envy 5640 printer has been working fine. Then the system reported it as Offline on my MacBook Pro.

However, the printer was available on my Mac Airbook.

I updated to Big Sur 11.7.7 and then deleted the printer and tried to Add a new printer.

The search window opens but the system never finds the printer.

It seems like the system is not searching the network as the printer is connected to the network.

When I open the Wifi tool I can see the Home wifi network (to which I am connected) and also the HP Envy 5640 Air Print network.

Is there something I am missing?

Try adding the printer with the first icon selected under Add Printer. That particular panel is where Apple's Bonjour will report the discovery of your HP printer, where you click on that discovery line, and where the printer should auto-configure for AirPrint before re-adding it.

The HP1B6BF is not a valid IP address in your example provided above.

The HP Envy 5640 device is supported by Apple's AirPrint and provided it is powered and solely networked — not also connected to the Mac via USB cable, Apple's Bonjour service should detect it on the network. That detection would appear on the Add Printer panel if the first Add Printer icon is selected, and the device is on the same LAN segment.

When Bonjour discovers the device, you click that name entry which would then reveal the Use: selector and you would then select Default, or AirPrint whichever appears and it would configure the 5640 for AirPrint.

I no longer use HP products.
