option for sound from phone while connected to

I like having my phone connected to my Mac because it’s easy to respond to texts, share files etc. However, I keep missing texts because I often have my Mac sound off. How can I keep the connected functionality while still getting alert sounds through my Iphone. Also, if there is a way to not minimize the browser when getting a phone call that would be great.
