MBP 16" Monterey - scaling issue with external 4K monitor

Hi,

I've just received my new Macbook Pro 16". It has macOS Monterey installed.

When connecting with my LG 4K monitor and using default settings, sadly I see a much more scaled-up version of my UI (similar if I use 1920x1080 res, and I am using 3840 × 2160). Using scaling options also does not help much - components seem too big or too small.

I have a 15" MBP with Ventura and all works fine there.

I've tried playing around with the monitor settings quite a lot now.

Maybe someone has any ideas? Thanks!

How is the display connected to your mac? HDMI? USB-C? Some dock or adapter between the mac and display?

What options do you see in System Preferences as to the resolution for it? Did you try showing all options but holding down Option key when clicking on Scaled?

If you use some dock that requires DisplayLink software, you may need to update that.

Since you are using Ventura already, it may make sense to update your new mac to it as well.
