Family Sharing, multiple issues

I'm having so many issues with Family Sharing!

I'm being charged extra for storage on a different family member's device. I never set up the shared finance option, however I get charged for everyone's stuff! He has tried to change the payment method and it's greyed out, so he can't change it. But why is he even paying for extra storage when he's part of the family plan?

My 6yo daughter just purchased $30 worth of In-app purchases that I didn't authorize or get asked permission for! She has always needed my permission before.

Also, three years' worth of photos are missing from my cloud storage.

If I change my plan, do I lose everything in my cloud?

I'm done with this sharing business. I'm tired of paying for a whole family of stuff that I didn't authorize!

Yes. That's the way Family Sharing works.

When you set it up:

Start a family group
One adult in the family — the family organizer — can set up Family Sharing for the group from their iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac. If purchase sharing is turned on, the family organizer pays for family members' purchases and must have a valid payment method on file.3 Set up Family Sharing - Apple Support

Family members cannot use their own payment methods. If he had his own storage plan, that is not automatically canceled, and is then charged to the Family Organizer. He can choose to join your Storage plan, and only then will it cancel his. click here ➜ Share iCloud+ with your family - Join Family Storage - Apple Support

Did you disable Ask to buy?

Check that it is correctly set up, and that she is using her own Apple ID and not yours on her devices. If using yours then she can do anything you can do.

Also, three years' worth of photos are missing from my cloud storage.

Do you have iCloud Photo Library turned on? Are the photos on one of your devices but not on iCloud? Why do you expect them to be in iCloud?

If I change my plan, do I lose everything in my cloud?

No. Changing plans does not erase anything or make you lose anything if done correctly. If you cancel one plan before change to the other, then anything that exceeds 5GB would be erased. If you start the new plan while still subscribed to the old one, it will seamlessly cancel the old plan and activate the new plan and keep everything intact on iCloud.

You did authorize it even if you did not realize it. When you set Family sharing and turn on purchase sharing you agree and by extension authorize this. As that is how Family Sharing works.

Perhaps you should read more carefully and understand how Family Sharing works before using it.

Thank you for responding. However, my Purchase sharing is not turned on. And why would they make one member pay for the storage but he can pay for apps and Apple Pay correctly? There has to be a setting for this somewhere?

i did nothing to change my child’s access except add her to family sharing. I looked at her settings and it is her ID. What I can not find is the “ask permission” setting? this has changed since adding the family sharing. I followed this:

Approve what kids buy with Ask to Buy - Apple Support

But it doesn’t have an Ask option when I look at her account
