iPhone and watch unavailable

I’ve had multiple incidents with my phone saying it is “unavailable” for anywhere from 4 minutes to two hours. One time when I depended on it for the address of my medical appt. The. Today I got a similar message on my watch, even though it was attached normally on my wrist and I hadn’t touched it.

Apple is way off base here. Four incorrect codes, out of 10,000 possible? That’s not a security; it’s paranoid control. Apple needs to let users control this evil “feature.”

A folio will prevent touches from registering, which—guessing—is what is triggering the login failures. I have had a few issues carrying an iPhone in my shirt pocket, with the display towards my body. In my case, carrying the iPhone with the case back toward my body resolved the touches. As would a folio case, for whatever here seems to be in contact with the display.

Troubleshooting a Locked iPhone:

If you are locked out, then contact Apple Support. This is a theft deterrent. So, if you do not have the original proof of purchase (i.e. sales receipt or original packing), then you may not be able to get back in. So, set up a Genius Bar Appointment at your local Apple Store. There, you'd bring along a proof of purchase (i.e. sale receipt or original packaging) and the iPhone, itself.

Apple Support Contact Info:

  • Contact Us - Choose Locations
  • Proceed from there as necessary
  • Note: Phone calls are taking a bit to go through at the moment, due to lots of calls. With the Coronavirus Pandemic, many are at home at the moment, with much time on their hands to contact Apple. So, just stay on the line, and you will get through :)
