How does "Find my" know the last location of my Airpods Pro if they weren't used at that time?

Long story short I misplaced my Airpods Pro 1. Gen. Both Airpods in the closed case. When I open the Find My App it tells their last location is my home just four hours prior to my search attempt. It's just that I haven't used them in the last 24h. Any attempts to find them with the app result in just connection attempts. How does the Find my App know their last location, if I haven't just them in the last 20h prior to last location that is displayed in the app?

Timeline:

Last used: 31th at 8pm

Last location: 1st at 5pm

Search attempt: 1st 9pm

Hi PancakePan,

AirPods will update their location if possible when in range of an Apple device. This could be yours, it could be your neighbors, a random passerby, etc. If you're seeing locations more recent than the last time you used them and this is your home, it is likely they're just updating their location based off of your own device.
