Adding random songs to my Library when downloaded purchases

I am running itunes and I have a laptop.

I must've erroneously clicked on something when I downloaded some purchased songs. I am getting random songs and albums added to my library. How do I prevent this from happening. Where is the setting I can turn off?

Check your settings. In iTunes, go to Preferences > General and uncheck the box next to "Automatically Add Purchased Music to Library." This will stop iTunes from automatically adding any songs that you purchase from the iTunes Store to your library.
Disable iCloud Music Library. iCloud Music Library is a feature that allows you to store your music library in the cloud and access it from any device that is signed in to your Apple ID. If you disable iCloud Music Library, any songs that are added to your library on one device will not be automatically added to your library on other devices. To disable iCloud Music Library, go to Preferences > General and uncheck the box next to "iCloud Music Library."
Delete any songs or albums that you do not want in your library. If you have already added songs or albums to your library that you do not want, you can delete them by selecting them and pressing the Delete key.

If you are still having problems with random songs and albums being added to your library, you can contact Apple Support for help.

Thank you so much for the detailed information. However, I DO want songs to go to my library after I download them. The problem is, random songs are adding that I am not selecting to download. PLUS I am being charged for the random songs. Any other advice? Anyone?
