Magic Keyboard not recharging

Hello, I have a late 2015 iMac with a Magic Keyboard that is no longer recharging. I've tried all the fixes... restarting, re-pairing, cleaning the port, etc...and nothing has helped. I am able to connect it with the lightning cable, and the keys appear to work, but I can't recharge. Diagnostics says everything's fine. Battery power is down to 15% now and I don't know what to do once it runs out. I want to sell this Mac soon and want to make sure it has a working keyboard. Any thoughts?

Hi jacabraham,

It is possible the rechargeable battery in the keyboard has reached the end of its lifespan or become 'consumed'. This does happen to all rechargeable batteries eventually. If it works directly plugged into a cable, this lends further credibility to the idea the battery either has failed or is failing.

If you've tried multiple Lightning cables, an it is plugged right into your iMac, not into a dock or hub, then we'd recommend contacting Apple regarding service options for the keyboard.
