New MacBook Pro will not complete update

So I just received my new MacBook Pro and there was an update for it so it started updating but it’s still suck on the same page, still saying the same amount of minutes when it started. What should I do?

The normal process is Downloading, Preparing Update, then reboots with another progress indicator giving approx install time. The computer will restart several times during the update.

  • What stage of the process are you in?
  • How long has it been?

The progress time is not real time and will vary depending on what gets updated. Be patient. It could take an hour from start to finish depending on WiFi speed and server congestion. It is never a good idea to interrupt the process. Usually you will see some progress though, even if it is longer than what the time shows.
