Will the touch bar ever come back?

I am interested in buying a new MacBook Pro but all the updated versions out now do not have the Touch Bar. My current MacBook has it and I love it very much. Do we know if it will ever make a comeback? I do not want to purchase a new computer if it has a chance of coming back. Thanks.

I am a touchbar addict. Without it every Mac looks and feels incomplete. I would love the 14, 15 and 16 variants of Mac to have the Touch Bar. The only reason I have not purchased the new ones till date and still using my 2016 Touch Bar version. And Apple is right now forcing people to buy the new mac's by dropping support for the 2016 dec variants after Monterey. Apple should know that people once used to the Touch Bar won't opt for lame buttons only keyboards layouts

I enjoyed the touch bar so much. It surely came in handy to pin essential apps and avoid having to physically look for them. I think one of the biggest problem most consumers had was the fact that there were no apps to support the touch bar so it became un-useful and more like a gimmick as time went on. Today, there are advanced features in apps like "Better Touch Tool" that allow you to customize it very well including adding widgets/gestures, which I do with my mac.

It took this long but I believe the touch bar will come back, as more developers are finding ways to make it useful.. and for the fact that its the same with the dynamic island. Atp, the only thing people rave about is the 'stop watch and tracking flights/food' within it, which to me is redundant. I could care less about the dynamic island seeing that there's really nothing "wow" you can do with it. If they can give that a chance, certainly there's hope.

I agree with this post. I am very upset that Apple took away the touch bar. I would love if they brought back a MacBook Pro that had the option for a touch bar. I get it might not be some people's cup of tea, but to make the option completely unavailable is going to upset quite a few loyal Apple users. I think it should be an add-on option for those who like it and for those who wish to opt out they can.

I love the touch bar. I use it professionally, for many very effective, repetitive functions.

I can't stand by thinking that my next Mac may not have the touch bar. I also think that the new keyboards, with the keys of the function of equal size to a normal button, are definitely disproportionate and with unnecessarily large function keys. It would be better to have two function keys instead of one or both the physical function button and the touchbar above it.

Here you are. Making coexisting features and touch bar would be an internal idea that Apple should elaborate.

And, of course, 4 Thunderbolt doors and Magsafe power supply :))))

I refused to buy a new Mac last year because I want the Touch Bar. The least Apple could do is give us the option on the MacBook Air.

Apple never offered the Touch Bar on the MacBook Air.

A quick skim of MacTracker suggests that it started out as a feature of mid-to-high end 2016 MacBook Pros: 15" ones and 13" ones with four Thunderbolt 3 ports. Low-end 13" ones with only two Thunderbolt ports did not get it. In the Apple Silicon era, only the 13" MacBook Pros (successors to the low-end 13" Intel MacBook Pros) had it. Those MacBook Pros were more akin to MacBook Airs than to 14" and 16" models based on Pro and Max chips.

I will not buy an apple without the touchbar. I love my 2020 mac book pro with the touchbar and that is literally the only thing I really like about my mac. So, I guess I'll just buy a Windows based laptop with specs twice as good as the mac for about half the price. You lost me because of this Apple!

Do those Windows laptops have a touchbar? But, if Windows computers better meet your needs, that's what you should get.

Also, Apple isn't reading here and I suspect most of us who are reading don't particularly care what you decide to buy.

I will miss the touch bar. I have it with my 2019 macbook pro 16". why take it away?

No one here in this user-to-user forum can give a definitive answer. However, it is widely surmised that the feature never sold very well and, when something went wrong with it, it was expensive to fix.

First Blackberry, now this.

Blackberry crashed and burned due to some very stupid business decisions. Almost anyone working in the industry at the time saw it coming.

There appears to be a 13" M2 MBP with the TouchBar
That link leads to an Apple page for Moldova.

I don't know why that link goes to Moldova (looks like guys in Moldova are lucky!), but the other link on specifications is in the UK MacBook Pro (13-inch, M2, 2022) - Technical Specifications – Apple Support (UK).

I have Sonoma 14.5 in my intel MBP, and I'm not in the US.

I wrote in my original post today that "it appears" not that I've seen one.

Here's an Indian guy showing one.

Well, it would be even nicer, if a MacBook would come with whole Touch keyboard, instead of a keyboard with mechanical keys. I had used such a laptop before. It was quite nice to just touch the keys when writing, rather than peck at the keys. When a person is getting older the finger tips hurts a bit while faster writing. 😩

Apple does not read here for feedback or suggestions. You can, however, let them know your thoughts here:

No one reading here has any vested interest in what computer you buy so threatening not to upgrade is kind of a waste of time and bytes.

For the most part, Apple once again, did it wrong. They put the Touch bar kind of far out of the place away from your fingertips and your eyes but they really should’ve done is make it possible to eject the mouse pad and drop in your phone and have the Touch Bar.

or made the mouse bad have phone like touchscreen ability as well as having the touch bar and probably they should’ve put some sort of dials in there as well because sliders don’t replace dials . the addition of tactile usage beyond Kyes was a game changer. It’s just too bad they never implemented it properly.
