How to move the Music folder on Mac to external hard drive

You have options:

The easiest way to move your media collection to an external drive is to simply copy the Music folder from your Mac to your external drive. Once complete, you can hold down the Option key while opening Music and select the library on the external drive. You may wish to delete the Music folder on your Mac before opening but it's not necessary.

You can also open Music

Then select Music > Settings > Files in the menu

Change the music media file to your external drive by clicking "change" and pointing to the drive

Elect to keep Music Media organized if you wish.

Click "ok"

Go to File > Library > Organize Library

Your music will now copy to the external drive
