I got the new IPhone 14 pro for my birthday and when I opened it was broken, the screen was all smashed. LUCKILY!!! My boyfriend was recording for my reaction. We showed the video to the people at Apple and they won’t give us our money back! It’s not our fault you did a terrible job shipping it to our house what do I do now?

That's nearly impossible to do without the damage to the box being more than obvious. I just recently purchased an iPhone 14 Pro.
The phone is face down so the screen is in the center of the box. The box is heavy duty and offers good protection on its own. On top of that, Apple places that box in a well protected shipping box.
The only way a new phone could be smashed, with no physical damage to the box it was in, is someone swapped out the phone with a broken one. In other words, theft.
As Katana-San noted, you're going to have to file a claim with the delivery company.

A question on how the box was presented to you.
When a phone arrives from Apple, shipping box has a pull strip to open it. I presume that had already been opened so the main iPhone box could be wrapped as a present.
The real question is: The iPhone box itself has two pull strips. One on the top, and one on the bottom. Had these already been pulled?
