addressing apple email

Some time ago, I had given myself a nickname that I'd use as an alternative contacts entry. When I added a new contact for son-in-law, I decided to give him that nickname and changed mine. I edited my apple contacts and when they are opened on any device, they read correctly. However, when I create a new email to my son-in-law, I type in the nickname in the TO: section and both my email and his address shows with my old nickname and his current nickname.

What do I need to do to remove my address from showing with my old nickname?
