Disabled iPhone making calls

Somehow my daughter has been able to make phone calls after disabling my phone with the incorrect passcode. Not to emergency services but to contacts. How is that possible?

Hi There,

I'd like to clarify what it is that you are saying. You mentioned that your iPhone is disabled after entering the incorrect passcode, does that mean you see "iPhone is Disabled" appearing on the screen?

If so, it still might be possible to make phone calls to contacts if you are using Siri to place the call or if you are connected to a known WiFi Network and this person is already someone in your contacts.

As always, you will always be able to contact emergency services even when the device is disabled. Are you able to ask your child to show you exactly how they are making the phone call whilst the phone is disabled and then reply back here?

Thanks

Hi Walt,

Being 6 months old might be a limiting factor to gain more information indeed. The only other thing I could suggest is to try and physically watch her when she's doing it if that's possible at all.

Using Siri may not be the case in this situation but it definitely is interesting. I don't have a solid answer for you as to why this is happening or how it is possible. The only thing I can think of is that shes clicking on the Emergency Call button and it's allowing the call to go through despite being a non-emergency number.

I hope you can catch her in the act so we can find out exactly how she's doing it.

P.S. You said this isnt a recent contact, but is the number called in-fact one that is listed in your Contacts app? Additionally, if the device is disabled, how do you know the number that was dialed? Is the iPhone still using a valid/in-service SIM Card?

Hi Again Walt,

I have some updated information for you. Can you tell me if the number called is a contact that is listed as an Emergency Contact in your Contacts App? If so, then this is another reason why they are able to make a call. The "Emergency Call" button can be used to call 911 or someone in your contacts who is listed as an Emergency Contact.
