Overheated and frozen 14Pro iPhone

My iPhone 14Pro literally froze while viewing photos. It overheated and none of the buttons work. I can’t lock or restart. It’s still heating up and I’ve tried putting it in the refrigerator too. Now what?

Do not put your iPhone in the refrigerator. The extreme temperature change can cause condensation to build up inside the phone, which can damage the components.

Instead, you should:

  1. Unplug your iPhone from any power source. This will help to prevent the phone from overheating further.
  2. Let your iPhone cool down naturally. Do not try to force it to cool down by using a fan or other cooling device.
  3. Once your iPhone has cooled down, try restarting it. To do this, press and hold the power button and the volume down button at the same time until you see the Apple logo.
  4. If your iPhone still does not work, you may need to take it to an Apple Store for further assistance.

I hope this helps!

My iPhone had already been disconnected from the power source. It was not cooling down on its own, it kept heating up.

I am putting it in a metal sink while it continues to figure out what it needs to do as I fear that it might catch fire should it not know how to cool itself down.

It’s so frustrating since I use my phone for a lot of community work. All of my photos and videos that I took today will most likely be wiped out. They were very important.

Not sure what the Apple store will do besides replace the battery. I understand that there is a problem with the iPhone 14 pro overheating frequently. Mine has done that a lot. Sad day.

My phone did this in the middle of the night while sleeping. iphone pro max 14, it was super hot to the touch when I woke up - slept late bc my alarm didn't go off. It was a great start to my day. Now I am waiting for my appointment at the store. What if this device caught fire while I was sleeping? This should not be happening for a phone that cost more than $1k!!!

I’ve had it happen in the middle of the night, too. If you get a solution, please post. I went into the store, as well. They made it sound like it was one of the apps I was using, yet my old iPhone ran the app just fine without getting hot. Pretty much every morning. My phone is hot if I run a sound app while I sleep. It shouldn’t do this. It also dies overnight, and my older model never did that. I regret ever buying it. If it’s not the camera it’s this. Yet, the iPhone 15 gets all of the press.
