Kernel Panics causing restart 2015 Macbook Pro

Macbook Pro-

early 2015 running Catalina,

3.1 GHz i& 16 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

I had replaced the battery and the battery deveoped an issue with its chip so I had the battery replaced a couple of weeks ago. Since then it has restarted about 6 times. I haven't been around when it has happened, I have returned to the computer and its restarted back to the password page, so perhaps its happening when it goes to sleep. I can close and reopen the computer with out issues (ie put it to sleep and wake it up that way). Here is the report of what is going on. Its the same every time, aside from variations in things like "system uploading in nanoseconds" etc.

Can anyone decipher what might be causing the problem? I haven't tried anything yet, just looking for possible info.

Non-Volatile Memory express (NVMe) is the protocol used by your built-in drive.

MacBook Pro 12,1 is a 15-in 2015 model.

¿what is the date of your most recent backup, and by what method?

It would be worth trying an erase and re-install.

But a technician may not be willing to do that, because you get your hopes up, only to have them come crashing down again, angry at the technician when they were trying to see if you could save some money and trouble.

I think I'd take it back to whoever replaced the battery and complain they didn't do it right and demonstrate the issue. Probably get no positive response if it wasn't Apple but I'd still do it.

the 13-in appears to have a replaceable drive.

OWC MacSales.com has replacement drives for that model available for sale.

It's worth a shot having the repair shop "look again".

Thanks for the quick reply! This is a 13 inch, so do you think another SSD might have been put in? I bought it used, and when I went to replace the battery, the one that was in hadn't been glued down, so obviously the previous owner had done some work or had some work done and not very well.

Thanks for the reply, is this kind of NVME Kernel panic something that would be prompted by a poorly installed battery? I want to be able to have some info for them, if only to be able to make the case that it was the new battery install that is causing the issue.

Thanks. Quick question, not sure if you can answer this, but is this issue in the built in disk something that could be prompted by the battery replacement? I just would like to go into the repair shop with as much info as possible.

I'll look into doing that. So far I haven't lost any work that i've done due to a restart, so it hasn't caused any problems, but it is disconcerting. Thanks for all your feedback. Really appreciate it.

Working inside a MacBook Pro could cause all sorts of problems in general.

But no, I can't see a way for battery work to CAUSE the drive to have problems.

Okay thanks. Is the only fix would be to replace the drive? I haven't tried a reinstall but it sounds like its something with the hardware?
