Here are a few potential reasons why this might have happened and what you can do about it:

Accidental Deletion: If you accidentally deleted the messages, they are unfortunately gone. The iPhone doesn’t have a function to recover deleted messages directly from the device.

Message History Setting: It’s possible your Message History setting is set to keep messages for a limited time. Check this by going to Settings > Messages > Keep Messages. If it’s set to “30 Days” or “1 Year,” it will delete older messages. Change this to “Forever” if you want to keep all messages indefinitely.

iCloud Backup: If you’ve been backing up your iPhone to iCloud, you can restore from a backup to recover deleted messages. Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Manage Storage > Backups. Here you can see your available backups. Note: Restoring from backup will revert your phone to the state it was in when that backup was made.

iCloud Sync: If your messages are set to sync with iCloud (Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Messages), it’s possible that a sync error caused the messages to disappear. Try turning off Messages in iCloud settings, wait a few moments, and then turn it back on to reinitiate the sync.

If you still can’t recover your messages, it might be worth reaching out to Apple Support directly for further assistance. Please be aware that privacy concerns prevent them from directly accessing and restoring your messages.
