Finder gives no permission to open Google Chrome

I always use Google Chrome on my MacBook Pro, unfortunately when I tried to open the app I got a pop up from finder.

“you do not have permission to open the application ‘Google Chrome’

I have tried to change the privilege in ‘get info’ under the tab ‘sharing and permissions’ this didn’t help though.

I also tried to open the app in Finder with no success.

any advice and suggestions are welcome so I can use Google chrome again.

thanks in advance.

I recommend you re-install Chrome, as your copy may be damaged.

Download a fresh copy of Chrome, and take care to download ONLY from google, not from any other site.

I was also searching for this issue and a reply from somewhere on the internet. May it be helpful for you too.

  1. Right-click on the "Google Chrome" application and select "Get Info."
  2. In the "General" section, check if the "Locked" option is enabled. If it is, uncheck it and close the Get Info window.
  3. Open the Terminal application (you can find it in the Utilities folder).
  4. Type the following command and press Enter:
sudo chmod -R +x /Applications/Google\ Chrome.app/

It will prompt you to enter your admin password.

5.After entering the password, press Enter. This command will change the permissions for the Google Chrome application.

6.Try opening Google Chrome again.
