Update to watchOS 8.7.1 keeps failing because of no internet connection while checking the update
I do have internet connection i've tried updating on phones on older versions (IOS 15, Iphone SE 2016) it'll connect to the watch but not update and say the exact same error. I have no clue what do anymore i've already tried everything

does an appointment cost money? Because if it does i might just buy a newer model. I don't have apple care

No, it doesn't cost anything. But I wouldn't discourage you from upgrading to a newer, more modern Apple Watch at this point.
