Little Snitch detected a modified "promoted content" BIN file
I've just updated to Ventura(13.4) recently, and "Little Snitch" prompts the following message during system startup.
promotedcontentd
wants to connect to device-config.pcms.apple.com
Warning
The program has been modified!
Previously, the program had the identifier “com.apple.promotedcontentd”, but now it’s “com.apple.ap.promotedcontentd”. This probably means that Apple decided to rename the process. But please inspect the names! If a process has been replaced with a script interpreter such as Python, its rules may be hijacked by a script virus.
I want to know if it is a secure process so that I can decide whether to allow or deny it.
